Glance through Denza Malaysia’s official website and you’ll immediately see a peculiar image on its landing page, featuring the Denza B8 with a link that will direct you to a registration page for this 4×4 PHEV SUV.
Yes, the registration of interest (ROI) for this Denza-badged version of BYD’s Fangchengbao Bao 8 is now open in Malaysia, thus indicating that its launch is imminent too.
Denza’s Flagship 4×4 SUV with BYD’s DMO Super Hybrid System
Billed as Denza’s flagship SUV, the upcoming B8 is quite a sizable SUV, spanning 5,195 mm long, 1,994 mm wide, and 1,905 mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,920 mm, thus putting it on par with other fellow Chinese compatriots such as the GWM Tank 500 and Jetour Zongheng G700, to name a few.
And just like the Fangchengbao Bao 5 previewed in Malaysia a few years back, the B8 features the ever-popular boxy SUV bodystyle with some off-road-ready bits. Key highlights include a tailgate-mounted spare tyre cover a la Tank 500, a rugged bodykit with built-in skid plates, 20- or 21-inch wheel options, and many more.
Beneath its rugged body, the B8 underpins BYD’s proprietary Dual-Mode Offroad (DMO) plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain system that features a 2.0-litre 4-cyl turbocharged petrol engine rated at 245 PS and 380 Nm as its core.
Said engine is then mated to two electric motors to deliver a combined system output of 748 PS and 706 Nm to this three-row SUV, enabling it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds.

Juicing the two motors is a 36.8 kWh BYD Blade LFP battery pack that provides up to 125 km of pure electric range, at least according to the more lenient CLTC standards. Together with its massive 91.5-litre fuel tank, the B8 PHEV is good for a comprehensive range of up to 1,200 km (CLTC), Denza claims.
Charging-wise, the B8 supports up to 120 kW of DC fast charging, which tops up the battery from 30–80% in just 16 minutes.
Australia & Thailand Done, Malaysia Next?
Prior to this ROI open, the Denza B8 had already made its debut in several key right-hand drive (RHD) markets such as Australia and Thailand, with the latter being the most recent during the Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS 2026) last week.
In the Land Down Under, the B8 is priced between AUD 91,000 and AUD 97,000 (RM253,868 to RM273,368), so could Denza Malaysia (BYD Malaysia) offer this flagship 4×4 PHEV SUV in the same price range for our market?
