BMW Group Malaysia today announced the appointment of Raymond Tan Chor Ann as its new managing director, effective from Sept 1, 2026, onwards.

Raymond will be taking the helm at BMW Group Malaysia from current MD Benjamin Nagel, who will take on the position of Managing Director of BMW Group Importer Markets TW, HK, MC, with responsibility for the markets of Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macao.

Homecoming for Raymond

In his new role, Raymond will lead BMW Group Malaysia’s operations and continue to strengthen the BMW, MINI and BMW Motorrad brands in the country.

More importantly, this appointment also marks a homecoming for the accomplished Malaysian exec, as he was previously responsible for multiple roles with the BMW Group spanning across key markets in the Asia-Pacific region and the company’s headquarters in Munich, Germany.

As for his role within the BMW Group Malaysia fraternity, Raymond also held several pivotal leadership roles, beginning as Product and Price Planning Manager way back in 2003.

He later joined the BMW Group headquarters in Munich as Regional Product Manager, responsible for product planning and strategic market coordination across international markets, before returning to Malaysia as Head of Marketing before progressing to Head of Sales.

“I am excited to return to Malaysia to lead the National Sales Company as the first local managing director of BMW Group Malaysia, particularly at this pivotal moment as the BMW Group prepares for a new era with the upcoming introduction of the Neue Klasse range of models. My priorities will be to further develop the business, professionalise the retail network, strengthen customer loyalty, and continue positioning the BMW Group as the premium brand of choice in Malaysia,” Raymond commented.

Nagel to Handle Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macao Markets

As for the outgoing MD, Benjamin Nagel will continue his role as the managing director of BMW Group Importer Markets TW, HK, MC, with responsibility for the markets of Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macao.

Throughout his tenure, Nagel oversaw a period of transformation for BMW Group Malaysia as the company began to adopt electromobility, as well as a strong focus on customers, dealer partners, employees and stakeholders, as well as key priorities, including electrification, digitalisation, customer experience and network development.

Commenting on his new appointment, Benjamin Nagel said, “I am honoured and excited to take on this new opportunity with the BMW Group to oversee the importer markets of Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macao.

“Having had the privilege of leading BMW Group Malaysia, I look forward to bringing the insights and experience gained in Malaysia to these dynamic importer markets while continuing to strengthen customer focus and premium brand positioning.”
