National automaker Proton is on track for its best-ever annual sales record in years, as the company recently announced that it has recorded a total group sales of 100,346 units as of June this year, surpassing the 100,000-unit milestone for the first six months of 2026.

Marking an astounding 39.1% increase over the same period last year, this stellar sales record also marked its strongest first-half annual sales record in 15 years, which puts the company on track to reach its target of selling 200,000 vehicles this year.

New Saga Leading the Pack

Predictably, Proton’s best performer this year is the new Proton Saga MC3, with a total of 7,000 units delivered to customers in June 2026 alone.

This positive sales streak has brought the Saga’s year-to-date (YTD) sales volume to 44,375 units as of June this year, marking a sharp increase of 40% in volume over the same period last year.

From one Proton sedan to another, the new S70 MC1 retains its king of C-segment sedan title, with 2,307 units delivered last month to bring its YTD volume to 12,832 units, an increase of 37.3% compared to 2025.

Another segment king from Proton is the popular X50 B-segment SUV, recording 2,378 units in June this year and 15,345 year-to-date sales, representing growth of 35.1% over the previous year.

Proton e.MAS Makes Its Mark in Local NEV Segment

Traditional combustion models aside, Proton’s new energy vehicle (NEV) game has also gained positive sales momentum throughout 1H 2026, with a total of 17,920 Proton e.MAS vehicles have now been delivered to customers nationwide, marking an astounding 321% increase over the same period last year.

Leading P1’s NEV pack is none other than the popular Proton e.MAS 5, now locally assembled (CKD), which retains its position as the best-selling EV model of 2026, with 10,793 units sold as of June 2026.

Its second best-seller is the semi-electrified Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV, with 1,138 units delivered in June this year to bring its YTD to 4,074 units—making it the best-selling plug-in hybrid model in Malaysia so far this year.

Last but not least is Proton’s first all-electric production model, the Proton e.MAS 7, with 659 units delivered last month to bring its cumulative deliveries to 3,053 units.

More to Come in 2H 2026

Looking ahead, Proton is poised to reach its 200,000-unit annual sales target this year, while at the same time continuing to expand its production capacity to reduce customer waiting times while enhancing its retail experience through dealer network improvements.

More importantly, we can also expect to see new product introductions by P1, following the showcase of its new hybrid powertrain technology at the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS 2026) earlier this year. Excited to see a hybrid Proton model coming soon?
