National new energy vehicle marque Proton e.MAS has charted a new monthly sales record, as it surpasses 6,000 units sold with a total of 6,047 vehicles in August 2026.

According to the automaker, this achievement comes just 20 months after the launch of its first model, the Proton e.MAS 7 EV SUV, making it the fastest xEV brand in Malaysia to surpass the 6,000-unit monthly milestone.

e.MAS 5 Still Dominating the EV Chart

To no one’s surprise, the ever-popular Proton e.MAS 5 is still leading the sales chart with 4,770 units sold, making up to 80% of the brand’s domestic registration last month.

The e.MAS 7 duo, on the other hand, has also continued its robust sales performance, with 613 units of the EV version sold last month, while its PHEV twin fares slightly better with 616 units delivered.

Going state-by-state, Selangor continues to dominate the sales chart, accounting for 51% of the brand’s total sales last month, followed by Johor and Penang. Combined, these three West Coast Peninsula states contributed 71% of Proton e.MAS’ domestic sales in Aug 2026.

Beyond the Malaysian borders, Proton e.MAS has also recorded 453 export units to overseas markets such as Nepal, Trinidad & Tobago, Singapore, and Mauritius.

Local Support Network Expanded

To support this rapid volume expansion, Proton e.MAS has also continued to grow its local support network, with its retail and aftersales network now comprising 60 dealerships, 46 service centres, and 10 body & paint centres across Malaysia.

The same goes for P1’s Live Charging Map network, which currently has more than 4,700 charging points nationwide, including more than 1,500 charging points across over 600 high-rise residences, as well as 103 DC fast chargers at selected Proton e.MAS dealerships.
