To any of those 6,900 owners of the Proton e.MAS 5 who are looking for ideas to jazz up their ride, you might want to check out this special edition Geely EX2 “Shooting Star” unveiled at this year’s Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS 2026).
While there are several examples of this styled-up EX2 shown in Bangkok, the one that caught our attention the most is this particular unit that came dressed in a slew of black-and-yellow aero bits, and the exact colourway does remind us of a now-defunct factory racing arm in Malaysia.
EX2 with ‘R3-Inspired’ Bodykit?
Remove the Geely badging and one might think this EX2 Shooting Star is a special Proton R3 edition of the Proton e.MAS 5, but from what we understand this is just a mere coincidence, as the displayed model bears no relation to the aforementioned racing outfit.
Having said that, the special bodykit primed to this EX2 Shooting Star does elevate the presence of this urban EV hatch, featuring bits like an extended front lip, side skirts, a more aggressive rear diffuser, and even a sporty rear spoiler to match—the latter is the only one without the contrasting yellow accents.

But what could perhaps complete the whole package is the addition of bespoke wheels on this EX2 Shooting Star, where the model instead settled for the stock 16-inch units instead.
The same goes for its interior, where the EX2 Shooting Star boasts no significant design upgrades over the standard model. Having said that, Thai buyers can still find cabin amenities such as the leather steering wheel, the 14.6-inch central infotainment screen powered by Flyme Auto OS, a unique cityscape lighting design, a powered driver’s seat, and many more.
No Powertrain Upgrades, Slight Price Increase
Predictably, the EX2 Shooting Star gets no powertrain upgrades from the regular version, as it still features the same, rear-mounted (RWD) electric motor delivering 116 PS and 150 Nm. Juice is provided by a 39.4 kWh battery pack that Geely claims is good for up to 395 km of NEDC range, while a 70 kW DC charger sees the battery go up from 30% to 80% in 25 minutes.

During the motorshow, the new Geely EX2 Shooting Star Edition retails at THB 484,990 (RM59,866), making it slightly more expensive compared to the regular EX2, which is priced at THB 399,990 (RM49,374) for the Pro variant and THB 429,990 (RM53,077) for the top-spec Max variant.
So folks, what do you guys think of the Geely EX2 Shooting Star? Keen to see Proton e.MAS offering the same upgrades to our local-spec e.MAS 5 in the future?
