#BIMS2026: 2026 Geely EX5 Max+ Unveiled with 525 km of NEDC Range

Sawadeekap from the 47th Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS 2026), and the first new metal that caught our attention is the latest top-spec variant of the Proton e.MAS 7’s Geely twin in Thailand, the 2026 Geely EX5 Max+.

This new model follows the same upgrade given to the 2026 model year (2026 MY) version of the Geely Galaxy E5 in native China, with the biggest improvement being the new battery pack that promises up to 525 km of NEDC travel range.

New Battery Spec, Same Powertrain Setup

The new battery in question comes in the form of a 68.39 kWh Aegis short blade LFP pack, which is slightly bigger than the 60.22 kWh LFP unit currently used on both the EX5 Pro and EX5 Max in the Thai market.

Geely claims that this new LFP pack is good enough to boost the EX5’s NEDC range to 525 km compared to 495 km offered by the previous 60.22 kWh unit on the Pro variant.

Despite the battery pack change, the EX5 Max+ continues to get the same 100 kW DC fast charging, which the company says is good to charge up the car from 30% to 80% in about 20 minutes. AC charging, on the other hand, is still capped at 11 kW for this range-topper, with a V2L support coming standard to the model.

The same can also be said for its powertrain setup, where the Thai-spec EX5 Max+ is still powered by a single FWD electric motor rated at 218 PS (160 kW) and 320 Nm that enables a century sprint time of 7.6 seconds, plus a limited V-max of 175 km/h.

Minor Styling Changes, Slight Price Increase

Visually, the new EX5 Max+ looks very similar to other lower-specced variants of the EX5, with the 2026 MY update bringing little-to-none aesthetic changes to this C-segment EV SUV.

The only notable change that we can see is the new 19-inch alloy wheels shod in Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance SUV tyres measuring 235/50/R19.

Interior amenities are also largely unchanged from the previous top-spec Max variant, with key highlights including the 14-speaker Flyme Audio sound system, the 15.4-inch central infotainment system powered by Flyme Auto OS, a smaller 10.2-inch digital metre cluster with a 13.8-inch head-up display (HUD), powered front seats with ventilation and massage functions, 256-colour ambient lights, a full panoramic sunroof, and many more.

Given that the new 2026 Geely EX5 Max+ now stands as the new range-topping variant for the model in Thailand, this new model is priced at THB 899,000 (RM109,304), while the previous top-spec Max variant retails lower at THB 849,000 (RM103,225). And yes, this also does make the higher-specced EX5 cheaper than its Proton-badged twin in our local market.

Besides the Thai market, the upgraded Geely EX5 Max+ is also bound for another right-hand drive market, like Australia and potentially Malaysia too, under the guise of the Proton e.MAS 7, that is. Having said that, are you excited to see the e.MAS 7 getting a much-needed battery upgrade in our market soon?
