2026 Volvo EX30 Cross Country Launched in Malaysia – RM218,888

Following the launch of the updated 2026 Volvo EX90 last week, Volvo Car Malaysia (VCM) has taken us by surprise with the launch of the new Volvo EX30 Cross Country during its media appreciation gathering in Janda Baik earlier this week.

Priced at RM218,888, the EX30 Cross Country is essentially a rugged-up version of the EX30 subcompact EV crossover, where it brings back one of Volvo’s classic nameplates that was first used back in 1997 on the Volvo V70, which is also known as the V70 XC.

Included with said price is a standard 5-year unlimited mileage vehicle warranty and an 8-year or 160,000 km battery warranty. The first 100 bookings will receive cash rebates worth RM12,000, as well as complimentary accessories such as a Volvo Wallbox charger worth RM3,990, a load carrier worth RM2,098, and a roof basket worth RM3,680.

Rugged EV Crossover

As per any Volvo Cross Country model of the past, the new EX30 Cross Country is also developed to “handle the demanding Scandinavian climate.” Built based on the dual-motor AWD variant of the EX30, the Cross Country version ups the ante with the addition of rugged exterior visuals.

This includes the blackened-out front and rear bumper sections with the topography of the Kebnekaise mountain range in Arctic Sweden, front and rear skid plates, prominent plastic underbody claddings with unpainted wheel arches, and several Cross Country logos.

Its ride height has also been increased by 19 mm over the standard EX30, while the whole car rides on 19-inch five-spoke alloy wheels finished in black. Not to forget, buyers can get this rugged EV crossover in three exterior colours—Crystal White, Vapour Grey, and Cloud Blue.

More Practical Interior

The Cross Country Treatment continues inside the car, where the EX30 gets some extra storage rooms over its standard twin, while the whole cabin is wrapped in charcoal-coloured woven textile with Nordico upholstery, denim decor panels, and blue air vent panels.

The doors now house larger storage compartments in place of the speakers, while the flexible central storage is larger than before, and there’s also a removable box under the central armrest that provides extra storage while doubling as a waste bin.

The rear luggage space, on the other hand, holds 318 litres with all seats up, or 718 litres with the second-row split seat fully folded. There’s even a ‘Will it Fit’ graphic on the power tailgate that provides intuitive examples of what can be transported with ease inside this rugged EV crossover.

Rounding off the cabin amenities are the 12.3-inch Google-powered central screen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a Harman Kardon premium sound system, a panoramic sunroof with a built-in sunshade, and many more.

Based on Ultra Twin Performance Variant

As mentioned prior, the new EX30 Cross Country is based on the dual-motor Ultra Twin Performance variant of the EX30, which has been discontinued here in Malaysia.

Its dual-motor AWD setup packs a combined output of 428 hp and 543 Nm, enabling this rugged EV crossover to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds before hitting the limiter at 180 km/h.

The off-road get-go, plus the taller ride height does have some minor effects on its performance, where its 69-kWh LFP battery is only good enough for up to 437 km of WLTP range compared to 450 km on the non-Cross Country EX30. Charging, however, remains the same at 175 kW DC and 11 kW AC.

With the EX30 Ultra Twin Performance now discontinued in Malaysia, the new EX30 Cross Country is the only dual-motor variant of the EX30 currently on sale here. But despite its rugged get-go, the Cross Country version is priced RM10,000 less than the EX30 Ultra Twin Performance, which was previously on sale for RM228,888.
