Our Auto China 2026 coverage continues with Lepas, a new sub-brand under the Chery Group family that has just unveiled their global new energy vehicle (NEV) lineup in Beijing.
Comprising the L6 PHEV, L6 EV, and the smaller L4 EV, these NEV variants have expanded Lepas’ product lineup from its original combustion trio, and they are bound for the global markets, with Malaysia possibly included in the final roster too.
Lepas L4 EV – New B-Segment EV SUV
We’ll start with the Lepas L4 EV, which already made its regional debut at the Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS 2026) last month alongside the L6 EV.
While no final specs were given for now, we’ve been told that the L4 EV will boast a maximum range of up to 500 km, which we believe is based on the more lenient NEDC standards.

As for its powertrain setup, the L4 EV shares the same single FWD motor setup as other Chery-branded B-segment EV SUVs, featuring a total system output of 211 PS and 288 Nm. Juice is drawn from a 61.1 kWh LFP battery pack that supports up to 80 kW of DC fast charging.
Visually, the L4 EV distinguishes itself from the combustion twin with a cleaner, grill-less front face featuring sharp LED headlights with L-shaped LED DRLs and a wide lower air intake with vertical inserts. The rest of the car, however, looks similar to the ICE-powered L4, featuring full-width LED taillights, 17-inch two-tone alloy wheels, and many more.
Dimension-wise, the L4 EV spans 4,406 mm in length, 1,820 mm in width, and 1,635 mm in height with a 2,700 mm wheelbase, thus putting it on par with both its Chery stablemates, the Chery Omoda E5 and Jaecoo J5 EV.
Lepas L6 PHEV & L6 EV – C-Segment NEV SUV Duo
Next are the brand’s C-segment SUV duo, the Lepas L6 PHEV and L6 EV. While the latter was already shown at BIMS 2026 last month, this is the first time the former version was shown to the public, albeit its pre-production version was already unveiled last year at the Chery International User Summit in Wuhu, China.
Again, details are quite scarce for both the L6 PHEV and L6 EV, but Thai automotive portal AutoInfo Thailand reveals that the EV version boasts a total system output of 242 PS (178 kW) and 275 Nm to enable a quick century sprint time of 7.9 seconds for this C-segment SUV.
Juice is provided by a 67.08-kWh LFP battery pack that is good for up to 510 km of NEDC range while capable of supporting up to 120 kW of DC fast charging that enables a 30% to 80% charge to be completed in 20 minutes, Lepas claims.

As for the PHEV version, it underpins the same plug-in hybrid system found on both its Chery and Jaecoo counterparts, now being branded Lepas Hybrid System (LHS). This setup features a 1.5-litre 4-cyl turbocharged petrol engine that is mated to an electric motor and a dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT) to produce a combined output of 275 PS and 365 Nm.
And similar to its fellow Chery Group siblings, Lepas also claims the L6 PHEV to boast a pure electric range of over 100 km, plus a combined range of up to 1,200 km.
Global Debut Confirmed, Malaysia Included?
As mentioned earlier, the new Lepas L4 EV, L6 EV, and L6 PHEV have been confirmed to be part of the brand’s global NEV lineup and are set to make their debut in selected overseas markets in due time.
Having said that, Lepas Malaysia has yet to confirm if any of these three NEV models will make its way into our local market, although the company is considering it, at least for now.

Should they ever arrive in our market, expect their debut to take place sometime after the ICE models’ debut, which is slated to take place in the first half of 2026, possibly at the upcoming Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show 2026 (KLIMS 2026).
