After a series of previews and its booking commencement, Omoda | Jaecoo Malaysia has finally launched its second model this year, the all-new 2026 Omoda C9 PHEV.
This electrified midsize SUV becomes the second plug-in hybrid (PHEV) model by the automaker to be launched locally, with the first one being the Jaecoo J7 PHEV SHS launched back in 2025.
“Attainable” Premium PHEV SUV
The local-spec C9 PHEV comes in only one AWD variant, priced at RM208,800 on-the-road sans insurance. For that price, buyers will get a 7-year or 200,000 km vehicle warranty as standard.
On top of that, the C9 PHEV AWD is also covered with an extended 10-year or 1 million km warranty for its 1.5-litre turbopetrol engine, while its key EV components like the battery, electric motors, and power electronics are covered in a separate 10-year or 200,000 km warranty.

In conjunction with its launch, O&J Malaysia is offering a special launch package for customers who book the C9 PHEV between Mar 18 and Apr 30, 2026, where they will receive a RM3,000 duit raya rebate along with a complimentary Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) connector cable valued at RM730.
Additionally, a limited number of fully-imported (CBU) units of the C9 PHEV will be offered with complimentary 1-year insurance coverage worth RM6,000, available while stock lasts.
O&J’s Most Powerful Model to Date
Powering the Omoda C9 PHEV is O&J’s proprietary Super Hybrid System (SHS) PHEV setup, where, unlike in the J7 PHEV, this one features a more powerful triple-motor setup with an all-wheel-drive (AWD) configuration.

The base of this setup is a 1.5-litre 4-cyl turbocharged Deep Miller Cycle petrol engine rated at 143 PS and 215 Nm by itself, while featuring up to 44.5% thermal efficiency.
Said engine is then mated to a 3-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT), where two electric motors power up the front wheels with a combined output of 224 PS and 390 Nm. When additional traction or acceleration is required, the system engages the rear electric motor, which develops 238 PS and 310 Nm of torque, delivering intelligent all-wheel-drive capability.

Combined, the whole PHEV system delivers a total output of 537 PS and 650 Nm, enabling this midsize SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds, making it the most potent O&J model to date.

In charge of juicing these motors is a sizable 34.46-kWh LFP battery pack that O&J claims is good for up to 169 km of pure electric range (NEDC). When combined with its large 70-litre fuel tank, the C9 PHEV can get up to 1,100 km (NEDC) of combined driving range, with its fuel consumption rated at just 1.4 litres per 100 km (NEDC).
Nevertheless, said battery pack supports both AC 6.6 and DC 70 kW charging methods, with the latter enabling a 30% to 80% charge to be completed in just 25 minutes.
Flagship-Specced Design & Interior
Aside from its electrified powertrain, the rest of the C9 PHEV looks the same as its full combustion twin, featuring a sleek and sporty coupe-esque SUV bodystyle with tons of modern amenities and creature comforts inside.
The only notable differences for the PHEV model are the charging port on the rear-left quarter panel, as well as the PHEV badge on its tailgate. Other key design highlights primed here include full LED lights with L-shaped front DRLs, 20-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels, quad exhaust tips, and three exterior colourway options—Matte Grey, Khaki White, and Carbon Crystal Black.
Inside, the C9 PHEV retains the same five-seater layout as the ICE version, with key features including the 24.6-inch dual-LCD screen setup housing both the infotainment and digital metre cluster, powered, ventilated, and heated front seats with massage functions, a large panoramic sunroof, 256-colour ambient lights, double-glazed front windows, and many more.
Space is also quite decent in this relatively large SUV, as its boot space measures 660 litres as standard, which can be further expanded to 1,783 litres with the rear seats folded.
As for the safety bits, the C9 PHEV comes with full Level 2+ ADAS support, featuring key active safety functions like:
- Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
- Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM)
- Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA)
- Front (FCW) and Rear Collision Warning (RCW)
- Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and Prevention (LDP)
- Lane Change Assist (LCA)
- Emergency Lane Keeping (ELK)
- Door Opening Warning (DOW)
