Out of the blue, UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) has published a new image teasing three of its upcoming models via its official social media channels.
From the outlines of the vehicles in said image, we can already tell that these are indeed a trio of Toyota EVs, namely the bZ4X, the Urban Cruiser, and the fully electric version of the Hilux pick-up truck.
On top of said teaser image, the price lists for these EV models have also been leaked online, with the bZ4X reportedly retailing at RM220,000, the Urban Cruiser EV at RM198,000, and the Hilux EV at RM226,300.
Three New EVs, Two Already Debuted in Thailand
Of the three models teased, two of them have already made their Southeast Asian regional debut last week at the Bangkok International Motor Show 2026 (BIMS 2026), and that’s where we’ll start our story.
Beginning with the new Hilux EV, this all-electric pick-up truck is simply known as the Toyota Hilux Travo-e in the Thai market, where it is offered in a single double-cab dual-motor variant priced at THB 1.491 million (RM182,680). And should its leaked price tag of RM226,300 be true, this means that Malaysians will be paying more than RM40,000 extra for the same pick-up truck as the Thais.
As detailed prior, the Hilux Travo-e is powered by two electric motors, with the front unit rated at 112 PS and 205 Nm, while the rear one is rated higher at 176 PS and 268 Nm. Juice is provided by a 59.2-kWh battery pack that is good for up to 240 km of WLTP range, Toyota claims.
As for the bZ4X, the 2026 updated version was also shown at BIMS 2026 last week, where Thai buyers get to choose from two variants—FWD (THB 1.529 million/RM187,335) and AWD (THB 1.649 million/RM202,038).
Again, should the leaked price list be true, then it seems that Malaysians will only get one variant of this EV SUV, and its displayed power output of 167 kW certainly matches the Thai-spec FWD version, meaning that again, we’re paying more than the Thais for what is essentially the same car.
But Wait, There’s One More…
Last but not least, the Urban Cruiser EV is also included on both the teaser image and the leaked price list. This compact EV crossover is essentially a Toyota rebadged version of the Suzuki eVitara, where it is said to be sized between the aforementioned bZ4X and the upcoming Yaris Cross.
Already shown in Indonesia, the Urban Cruiser EV is said to be offered in three variants in said market, although the leaked price list shows that only the mid-spec FWD variant is bound for our market, priced at RM198,000.
This variant is said to feature a single, front-mounted electric motor that produces 174 PS (128 kW) and 189 Nm, while being juiced by a 61-kWh battery pack that provides an WLTP range of around 400 to 426 km.
