German luxury marque Porsche is inching ever closer to making its boldest SUV yet a reality — an all-electric flagship that promises to sit above everything else in its lineup.
Spotted undergoing testing near Porsche’s development facilities in Germany, the model carrying the internal codename K1 has now been caught on camera, giving us a much clearer picture of just how big and purposeful this newcomer is shaping up to be.
The Porsche ‘K1’ is set to slot above the Cayenne as the brand’s flagship SUV, with a planned debut as a 2027 model.
Bigger and Bolder Than the Cayenne

From the prototype images captured, the Porsche ‘K1’ is clearly in a different league — longer, wider, and far more muscular than the Cayenne it’s set to overshadow.
The roofline is noticeably more upright and squared-off, with a rising side window line that sweeps towards the rear — a stark contrast to the sloping, coupe-like approach seen on many rivals.
While the front and rear bumpers remain heavily camouflaged, the headlight shape bears a clear resemblance to the new-generation Macan EV. At the back, a slim light bar stretches across the full width of the tailgate, paired with a wide black trim panel that ties in neatly with Porsche’s latest design language.
Could Seat Up to Seven

While Porsche hasn’t officially confirmed seating configurations, the sheer physical size of the ‘K1’ strongly hints at the possibility of a seven-seat layout.
If that proves to be the case, it would make the K1 the most practical electric Porsche ever built — one that caters to larger families without sacrificing the performance DNA the brand is renowned for.
SSP Platform, 900V Architecture

The Porsche ‘K1’ is expected to be built on the high-performance version of the Volkswagen Group’s Scalable Systems Platform (SSP).
Among the specifications being talked about is a 900V battery system, enabling ultra-fast charging from 10 to 80 percent in around 12 minutes. That’s a significant advantage for a large-format SUV that would typically demand a high-capacity battery to begin with.
Dynamic Features, Cutting-Edge Tech
As a performance luxury SUV, the Porsche ‘K1’ is expected to come loaded with a suite of advanced technologies, including:
- Four-wheel steering for improved manoeuvrability in tight spaces
- Electronic differential for sharper cornering control
- Air suspension as standard, balancing ride comfort with handling precision
- Latest-generation advanced driver assistance systems
Together, these features are expected to keep the K1 feeling agile and responsive — very much in line with Porsche DNA, despite its considerable size.
Rivals and Expected Pricing
When it arrives, the Porsche ‘K1’ will go head-to-head with the likes of the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV, Rivian R1S, and the upcoming Range Rover EV.
On the pricing front, expect the K1 to comfortably clear the US$100,000 mark — and quite possibly exceed the Cayenne Turbo, which currently starts from around US$148,550 in the United States.
Production is scheduled to commence in 2026, ahead of its official market launch as a 2027 model.
A New Chapter for Porsche
The emergence of the Porsche ‘K1’ signals a clear strategic move — one that sees Porsche doubling down on the premium large electric SUV segment.
If the Taycan proved that Porsche could do performance EVs convincingly, the K1 has every potential to become the definitive premium electric SUV — one that brings together space, technology, and performance in a single compelling package.
For markets like Malaysia, the K1 may well remain a niche proposition, but its arrival is set to raise the bar for the global luxury electric SUV segment in a big way.
