KTM has once again proven why it’s the benchmark for performance-focused machines, this time with the introduction of the KTM 990 RC R Track 2026.
Following the road-going variant launched in October 2025, the Track version arrives as a far more extreme proposition — stripped down for minimum weight and tuned exclusively for circuit use only.
This is a machine built for speed and performance with absolutely zero compromise.
Built With One Purpose in Mind
This model was developed on a zero compromise principle — to be a genuine supersport machine built purely for the track.
Everything road-legal has been stripped away. Headlights, mirrors, side stand — gone.
In their place, KTM has fitted a high-quality race-ready configuration that remains accessible even for riders stepping onto a circuit for the first time.
Among the rider-friendly features is the use of injection-moulded plastic fairings that make applying custom graphics stickers a straightforward affair.
The riding position has been optimised with a taller windscreen for a full tuck — keeping you planted and aerodynamically efficient at high speed.
The bike also comes standard with a wet weather rear light and a paddock stand included straight out of the crate.
The controls and instrument cluster have been similarly stripped back so the rider can stay fully focused on what matters — the track ahead.
LC8c Powerplant and Akrapovič Exhaust
At the heart of this machine is the LC8c 947cc parallel twin-cylinder DOHC engine — renowned for its compact form and exceptional power-to-weight ratio.
In Track specification, power output has been pushed further to deliver even more aggressive performance on the circuit.
The Akrapovič Evolution Line exhaust system — crafted from stainless steel and tipping the scales at just 3 kg — ensures optimal power flow while producing an ear-splitting 98.2 dB soundtrack that lets everyone on the circuit know exactly what’s coming.
Power is delivered through a race gearbox featuring a longer first gear and a shorter sixth gear, fine-tuned to suit the demands of circuit riding.
Inspired by the MotoGP KTM RC16
The aerodynamic design of the KTM 990 RC R Track draws heavy inspiration from KTM’s own MotoGP weapon — the RC16.
The winglets and every body line have been shaped to generate maximum downforce, boosting stability under hard acceleration and improving grip when diving into corners.
From an ergonomic standpoint, the 15.7-litre fuel tank and 857mm seat height are designed to provide six key contact points between rider and machine.
This allows the rider to move fluidly through corners while maintaining solid support for aggressive, committed riding.
Electronics and Rider Aids
In the pursuit of a lighter overall package, KTM fitted a more compact electronics suite that shaves off 2 kg compared to the road model.
Riders have access to three customisable Circuit Modes that can be adjusted to suit each session.
The system allows fine-tuning of parameters including throttle response, traction control, slide adjustment, anti-wheelie mode, launch control, and engine braking.
All of this information is displayed on a crisp 4.2-inch full-colour TFT screen.
Additional features such as Quickshifter+ and a pit lane speed limiter round out the professional-grade rider aids package.
Brembo HyPure 4-Piston Brakes
The KTM 990 RC R Track relies on premium components to ensure precision control at every corner.
Suspension duties are handled by fully adjustable WP APEX units, with settings developed through intensive testing at major race circuits across Europe.
Stopping power comes from the latest generation Brembo HyPure 4-piston caliper up front — delivering a lighter lever feel, more consistent bite point, and superior modulation compared to the standard ABS system found on the road variant.
Availability and the KTM 990 RC R CUP
The launch of this model also marks the beginning of the KTM 990 RC R CUP — a professionally organised six-round European race series designed specifically for non-professional riders looking to experience competitive racing in a structured environment.
CUP participants will receive priority delivery of their machines starting from February, while general customer and dealer deliveries are scheduled to begin from April 2026.
