National EV marque Proton e.MAS has further strengthened its position as Malaysia’s top EV brand, with its local EV market share now rising to over 60%.

This achievement came after the company delivered 27,403 units locally from January to August this year, with the compact Proton e.MAS 5 leading the pack.

Still Malaysia’s No. 1 EV Brand

Prior to this new milestone, Proton e.MAS previously charted a new monthly sales record, where the company’s monthly delivery surpasses the 6,000-unit mark for the first time ever.

This achievement helps Proton e.MAS to reach its strong year-to-date performance for both domestic and international markets, with 27,856 units registered so far this year, which comprises 18,014 units of the Proton e.MAS 5 and 4,278 units of the Proton e.MAS 7.

Combined with 5,562 units of the Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV, the whole Proton e.MAS brand has contributed to 32.5% of Malaysia’s electrified vehicle (xEV) market segment, on top of the 60% local EV market share.

“Achieving more than 60% market share is a significant milestone for Proton e.MAS, but more importantly, it reflects Malaysians’ growing confidence in electrified mobility. As the national EV brand, our responsibility extends beyond putting more EVs on the road. We are focused on building the ecosystem, capabilities, and infrastructure needed to support long-term EV adoption for all Malaysians,” said Mr. Zhang Qiang, CEO of PRO-NET.

Local Ecosystem Strengthened

To go with its stellar sales performance, Proton e.MAS has also strengthened the local ecosystem that supports customers throughout their ownership journey.

As of now, the Proton e.MAS local footprint comprises 60 dealerships, 46 authorised service centres and 10 body & paint facilities, providing customers with convenient access to sales, maintenance, and after-sales support across the country.

The charging ecosystem has also been expanded, with the company’s Integrated Live Charging Map now providing Proton e.MAS drivers access to over 4,700 charging points nationwide, covering over 90% of Malaysia’s public charging infrastructure.
