Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, Ioniq 6 N Open for Booking, Est. From RM450K

Besides Jetour and GWM, Hyundai Motor Malaysia (HMY) has also dropped a big surprise at the inaugural Penang Autoshow 2026 by opening the order books for its two high-performance EV models, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N and Ioniq 6 N.

This N-badged EV duo was long rumoured to make their way to the Malaysian shores, and the Korean automaker also announced tentative prices of RM450,000 for the Ioniq 5 N and RM460,000 for the Ioniq 6 N, with both models set to be fully imported (CBU) from South Korea.

While the order books are open for both the Ioniq 5 N and Ioniq 6 N, only the former was on display at the Penang Autoshow 2026, and this is not even the first Malaysian rodeo for this hot EV hatch.

That is because the Ioniq 5 N was first previewed in Malaysia back in 2024, during which the Hyundai brand was represented by Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) before HMY came into the picture.

Back then, the Ioniq 5 N was rumoured to be priced somewhere around RM390,000, which is quite hefty, especially when this was circulated while the EV tax-free holiday was still on. Now that the incentives are gone, this EV hatch is slapped with a slightly higher tentative price of RM450,000.

As for the Ioniq 6 N, it appears that we need to wait a bit longer before seeing this performance EV saloon in the flesh in Malaysia, and we’d reckon its long-awaited debut should be happening very soon following this open-for-booking announcement.

High-Performance EV Duo with Trick Driving Gizmos

Performance bits are the same as any other Ioniq 5 N and 6 N in the world, with both featuring a dual-motor setup delivering up to 609 PS and 740 Nm, or 650 PS and 750 Nm in the N Grin Boost mode—enough for a quick century sprint time of 3.4 seconds for the boxier Ioniq 5 N and 3.2 seconds for the sleeker Ioniq 6 N.

Straight-line performance aside, the fun drivability factor is the mainstay for both the Ioniq 5 N and 6 N, thanks to an array of gizmos primed to it. This includes the customisable N Torque Distribution front-to-rear torque split system, the N Race modes for quicker power delivery, the N Drift Optimiser that allows you to drift the car in relative ease, and many more.

Not to mention, both the Ioniq 5 N and 6 N are quite ‘usable’ too as an EV, as their 84-kWh NMC battery is rated for pretty decent WLTP ranges of up to 448 km for the former and 487 km for the latter. Juicing up also won’t be a hassle, as both EVs support up to 350 kW of DC fast charging to enable a 10-80% charge to be completed in just 18 minutes.
