The Ministry of Finance (MoF) today announced via its weekly circulation that the Malaysian fuel prices have gone up significantly this week, partly due to the ongoing conflict in Iran.
Between March 12 and 18, 2026, the RON95 fuel price went up by 60 sen to RM3.27 per litre, while RON97 petrol received the same 60 sen increment to RM3.85 per litre.
Those, however, are still pale in comparison to the Diesel fuel price hike, as both the Euro 5 B10 and Euro 5 B7 Diesel prices went up by a whopping 80 sen, bridging their prices to RM3.92 and RM4.12 per litre, respectively.
No Price Hike for BUDI95 RON95 Prices
Despite this sudden fuel price surge, the Malaysian government announced earlier today that the price of the RON95 fuel under the Budi95 initiative will remain at RM1.99 per litre.
For the Budi Diesel recipient, they will receive an increased cash assistance of RM300 per month for the interim period as a bid to further ease their burdens in light of this sudden fuel price surge.

“The Madani Government will continue to protect Malaysians through the targeted subsidy initiative Budi Madani, as well as additional cash assistance, while the global oil market continues to face uncertainty,” the MoF statement read.
Due to the ongoing conflict in West Asia that started when Iran was attacked about two weeks ago, the price of Brent crude oil reached US$119 (RM466.96) per barrel on March 9, before falling to around US$90 (RM353.16) per barrel recently.
In addition, the government will also work to maintain subsidised Diesel prices for public land transport and goods transport sectors in Peninsula Malaysia at RM1.88 and RM2.15 per litre, respectively, while at the same time increasing the interim cash assistance for eligible Diesel vehicle owners under the Budi Diesel Individu and Budi Diesel Agri-Komoditi from RM200 to RM300 this month.
