Dunlop Malaysia Announces Long-Term Plan – Network Expansion, New Product

Dunlop tyres may have been around Malaysia for quite a while, but the brand itself has been recently rejuvenated following the appointment of Toyotsu Binter Malaysia as its new exclusive distributor in Malaysia.

To go with this, Dunlop Malaysia, now represented by Toyotsu Binter Malaysia, has laid out its long-term plan for the Malaysian market, which includes the expansion of its dealer network, new product introduction, and many more.

Dealer Network Expansion, New CI Coming Soon

Since the appointment of Toyotsu Binter Malaysia as the exclusive distributor of Dunlop tyres in Malaysia in May this year, Dunlop has grown its local dealer network from around 150 outlets to more than 200 outlets, reflecting the growing confidence among dealers and partners in the brand.

Despite this growth, Toyotsu Binter Malaysia has voiced its commitment to continue investing in its local dealer network, as well as introducing new concepts of stores which will be introduced in the near future.

“Malaysia is an important market for Dunlop, and we see tremendous opportunities for long-term growth. We want Dunlop to be available wherever customers choose to purchase and service their tyres, whether through established tyre dealers, automotive service centres or future retail channels that enhance convenience and accessibility,” said Marcus Lim, managing director of Toyotsu Binter Malaysia.

Wider Product Portfolio

To go with its ever-expanding dealer network, Dunlop Malaysia also plans to broaden its product portfolio across key market segments.

Its product range currently includes the Blue Response TG (short form for Touring) for everyday passenger vehicles, the SP Sport Maxx 060+ for drivers seeking enhanced performance and handling, and the Grandtrek R/T01 for SUVs and pickup trucks, with plans to introduce the e.Sport Maxx EV-specific tyres in the near future.

Mind you, these tyres are all imported from Dunlop production facilities spread across Asia, including Thailand, Indonesia, and even Japan. Having said that, the company insisted that while it does not produce tyres locally in Malaysia for now, all the tyres brought in for our market are catered to the Malaysian driving conditions and roads.

While the company is focusing more on the replacement tyres market for now, Dunlop as a whole remains committed to supporting its original equipment manufacturer (OEM) partners, supplying tyres for selected models from leading automotive brands, including Toyota, Lexus, Isuzu, Mazda and Leapmotor, to name a few.
