After its first Malaysian public appearance at the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) earlier this year, the long-awaited 2026 Hyundai Stargazer has been officially launched in Malaysia, with three variants available to choose from:
- 2026 Hyundai Stargazer Style 7-Seater – RM99,800
- 2026 Hyundai Stargazer Prime 7-Seater – RM109,800
- 2026 Hyundai Stargazer X 6-Seater – RM121,800
Included with said price is the special early bird package worth RM4,600 for the first 800 bookings, comprising an 8-year or 160,000 km vehicle warranty, 8 times or 4 free service, an RM1,000 All-Star Reward for existing Hyundai service, an RM1,000 All-Star Reward for existing Hyundai owners, and an RM88 booking fee.
Hyundai Resale Value Protection Scheme Introduced
Also introduced alongside the new Stargazer is Hyundai Motor Malaysia’s (HMY) Resale Value Protection scheme, which is essentially a buy-back value guaranteed scheme for Stargazer owners who decide to upgrade their MPVs to a newer Hyundai model in the future.
This scheme offers up to 70% of protected resale value for cars at year three with up to 60,000 km mileage, 60% for year four with up to 80,000 km mileage, and 50% for year five with up to 100,000 km mileage.
As previously stated, Stargazer MPV owners can benefit from this trade-in scheme without incurring any additional costs, as it applies to the purchase of a new Hyundai vehicle.
Same Powertrain Specs
As detailed in our previous report, the Malaysian-spec Stargazer is based on the facelifted version that debuted globally back in 2025, where all three variants offered here share the same powertrain setup.
The setup in question comprises a tried-and-trusted 1.5-litre 4-cyl SmartStream Gamma-II nat-asp petrol engine rated at 115 PS and 144 Nm, which, according to Hyundai, has powered over 160,000 vehicles across the Asia-Pacific region.
Said engine is then mated to Hyundai’s proprietary Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT), which is essentially a chain-driven CVT box with eight virtual speeds, and the final drive is sent exclusively to the front wheels (FWD).
Three Variants, Two Seating Configurations
Across its three variants, the Malaysian-spec Stargazer is available in three seating configurations, with both the Style and Prime featuring a more conventional 7-seater setup with a 2-3-2 layout, while the X gets a posher 6-seater setup with a 2-2-2 layout instead.
The 2-2-2 layout enables Hyundai to equip the Stargazer X with two captain-style seats at the second row, which also provide easier access to the third row in between these two seats.
Further raising the bar for the top-spec X variants are several additional pieces of equipment, such as a column-mounted gear shifter with a twist mechanism a la Hyundai Ioniq EVs, a wireless charging pad on its central console, tray tables for the two captain seats at the second row, full faux leather upholstery with X embossing on the front seats, and a built-in dashcam.
Having said that, the Malaysian-spec Stargazer X does miss out on several amenities over its Indonesian siblings, including the nine-speaker Bose sound system, ambient lights, 360-degree camera system, as well as powered and ventilated front seats.
Other standard equipment featured on the new Stargazer includes:
- Dual 10.25-inch displays with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay (Prime & X)
- 4.2-inch multi-info display + 8-inch infotainment screen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay (Style)
- Six-speaker audio system (four for Style)
- 182-litre boot space (expandable to 1,892 litres with the second and third rows folded)
- SmartSense ADAS suite (Prime & X only)
- Six airbags (two for Style)
