Hyundai Motor Malaysia (HMY) has given us a surprise at the ongoing Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show 2026 (KLIMS 2026), where, besides launching its Ioniq N duo, the automaker has also previewed its upcoming compact MPV, the Hyundai Stargazer.

This B-segment MPV will be a fully imported (CBU) offering, where three variants are available to choose from—Style 7-seater (RM99,XXX), Prime 7-seater (RM109,XXX), and X 6-seater (RM121,XXX).

To go with the booking commencement, HMY is also offering special launch packages worth up to RM4,600 for the first 800 customers who book the MPV, including an extended 8-year or 160,000 km vehicle warranty, four years of free service, and a low booking fee of RM88. Existing Hyundai owners will also receive a RM1,000 rebate.

Single 1.5L SmartStream Powertrain Option

Set to go against the likes of the Toyota Veloz and Mitsubishi Xpander, the upcoming Stargazer for our market is based on the facelifted version, where all variants feature the same 1.5-litre 4-cyl nat-asp SmartStream petrol engine rated at 115 PS and 143 Nm.

Said engine is then mated to a chain-driven CVT gearbox, also known as the Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT), with the final drive being sent to the front wheels (FWD).

In other markets like Indonesia, you can get the Stargazer with a six-speed manual transmission option, although that exact spec won’t be available for Malaysian buyers, at least for now.

Boxy Compact MPV with Two Seating Configurations

Visually, the facelifted Stargazer carries several design traits borrowed from other newer Hyundai models while featuring more or less similar dimensions as its aforementioned segment rivals.

Measuring 4,575 mm long, 1,780 mm wide and 1,695 mm tall, the Stargazer sits between the Veloz and Xpander in terms of overall length, although the Korean-badged MPV takes the cake for having the longest wheelbase in its segment at 2,780 mm.

Some key exterior design bits primed to the Stargazer include an illuminated H-shaped graphic across its front face, a large horizontal slatted front grille, full-width LED taillights with the same H-shaped motif as the front, silver-hued decorative skid plates, and wheel sizes ranging from 16 inches on the Style to 17 inches on both the Prime and X variants.

Not to forget, a total of four exterior colours are offered to the Stargazer, namely Titan Gray Metallic, Creamy White Pearl, Midnight Black Pearl, and Gravity Gold Matte—the latter is exclusively available for the X variant.

Depending on the variant, buyers can get the Stargazer in either six- or seven-seater configurations, with the former being reserved for the top-spec X variant. Both the Style and Prime variants feature a three-seat bench in the second row, whereas the X features two captain-style chairs instead.

With all three rows of seats up, Hyundai claims the Stargazer boasts a limited boot space of just 182 litres, which can be expanded to 585 litres with the third-row seats folded down or up to 1,892 litres with both the two rear rows down.

Other amenities primed on this B-segment MPV include the following:

  • Twin 10.25-inch displays with Android Auto & Apple CarPlay (Prime & X)
  • Part faux leather upholstery (Prime), full faux leather upholstery (X)
  • Dedicated rear A/C vents with blower adjustment
  • Hyundai SmartSense ADAS suite (Prime & X)
  • Six airbags (Prime & X)
