2026 Ferrari 849 Testarossa Launched in Malaysia – From RM5.2 Million

Official Ferrari importers Ital Auto Malaysia has further expanded its product lineup today by launching the Prancing Horse’s latest V8 hybrid monster, the 2026 Ferrari 849 Testarossa.

Named after the legendary Ferrari 512 Testarossa from the 1980s, this new V8 PHEV-powered model now stood as the most potent main production model for the Maranello outfit.

The successor to the popular SF90 Stradale comes with a base price of RM2.188 million before tax and options, or around RM5.2 million for the Coupe and RM5.7 million for the Spider after tax and duties.

Ferrari’s Most Powerful V8 PHEV to Date

Powering the 849 Testarossa is the latest version of Ferrari’s V8-based PHEV powertrain system, featuring the updated version of the SF90’s 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine at its core.

Rated at 830 PS and 842 Nm on its own, the eight-pot mill is then mated to two independent electric motors at the front axle that together make 163 PS, and they are also part of the car’s all-wheel-drive (AWD) setup with the torque-vectoring RAC-e system.

Together, the whole V8 PHEV system delivers a combined output of 1,050 PS, making it 50 PS more potent than its predecessor. This setup is enough to accelerate the 1,570-kg super-PHEV from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.25 seconds, making it one of House Maranello’s quickest creations from the get-go.

There’s also a third MGU-K electric motor located at the rear axle and sandwiched between the V8 engine and the 8-speed DCT gearbox, although it is only in charge of filling the gaps and providing regenerative braking to this super-PHEV, which in turn charges up its 7.45-kWh battery pack that appears to be smaller than the one used on the SF90.

Speaking of which, Ferrari claims this small battery pack is good for up to 25 km of pure electric range for the 849 Testarossa, which also accepts AC charging via a Type 2 plug outlet that can juice it from 0 to 100% in about 2-3 hours.

Fresh New Design with Retro-Inspired Elements

Unlike the Amalfi, which looks pretty similar to the previous Roma, the new 849 Testarossa bears little to none visual similarities to its predecessor, the Ferrari SF90 Stradale, as it adopts a new and fresh design with some hints from its original namesake.

Gone are the SF90’s sharp LED headlights, whereas the 849 Testarossa gets a pair of slim rectangular LED units instead, which are connected by a dark carbon fibre strip to give it a somewhat similar front face to the 12Cilindri. Also primed here are 20-inch forged aluminium wheels with Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes, and buyers can choose a plethora of colours for the callipers.

Speaking of which, two new exterior colours have been introduced for the 849 Testarossa, namely Rosso Fiammente and Giallo Ambra.

Opting for the Assetto Fiorano package makes the 849 Testarossa look more aggressive than ever, featuring aero bits like the larger front flicks, new vortex generators under the front underfloor, a twin-tail rear spoiler, lightweight composite materials such as titanium and carbon fibre for selected parts, and sticky Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2 tyres measuring 265/35 R20 at the front and 325/30 R20 at the rear.

All in all, Ferrari claims the Assetto Fiorano package helps to shed around 30 kg off the 849 Testarossa, while the additional aero bits provide some aerodynamic enhancements to this super-PHEV.

Reworked Cabin with More Physical Buttons

Inside, the 849 Testarossa gets a reworked cabin that marks the comeback of physical buttons and dials over the previous model, including ones that are scattered around its new carbon fibre steering wheel.

There’s also the gear selector that is styled to look like classic gated manual shifters positioned higher up the central console for easier access, while the main metre cluster also provides wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support as standard. A second touchscreen is now available in front of the passenger’s seat, enabling them to fiddle with the climate and other cabin settings.

Buyers are given the choice of several seat options, including comfort-oriented ones or more race-oriented carbon fibre seats with side bolsters. Those who opt for the Assetto Fiorano package will instead get new lightweight tubular seats upholstered in black Alcantara that weigh 18 kg less than the standard ones, Ferrari says.

And just like the exterior, buyers can choose a host of customisation options for the interior, ranging from trim materials, upholsteries, stitching colours, and many more.
