In case you missed it, local Denza brand distributor BYD Malaysia has opened the registration of interest (ROI) for its upcoming luxury off-road SUV, the Denza B8.
Not only will the upcoming B8 become BYD Malaysia’s first-ever plug-in hybrid (PHEV) model, but this luxury off-road SUV will also feature some of the brand’s latest technologies, including its Dual Mode Off-road (DMO) super hybrid platform, the DiSus-P Intelligent Hydraulic Body Control Suspension, and many more.
Powered by BYD’s DMO Super-PHEV System
We’ll start with the B8’s powertrain setup, where the DMO platform uses a 2.0-litre 4-cyl turbocharged petrol engine as its core, which is then mated to two electric motors for a combined output of 612 PS (450 kW) and 760 Nm.
While its combined output is on par with any supercars, the DMO setup is developed with off-road capability and long-distance performance in mind, where the former utilises its dual-motor setup to improve control on uneven surfaces while preserving the refinement expected from a luxury SUV.

The latter, on the other hand, is made possible thanks to the B8’s 36.8-kWh BYD Blade battery pack that provides 115 km of pure electric range and up to 1,040 km of combined range—both based on NEDC standards.
And just like many other modern PHEVs, the B8 comes with multiple operating modes, including Pure EV, HEV Series, and Parallel Mode, all working seamlessly in the background, adjusting power delivery based on driving demand.
Intelligent Chassis Setup for Maximum Flexibility
Beyond power delivery, the Denza B8 also features DiSus-P Intelligent Hydraulic Body Control Suspension that is designed to continuously adapt to road and terrain conditions in real time.
Tuned to provide controls on both urban and off-road environments, the DiSus-P system actively responds to uneven surfaces, rapid direction changes, and varying driving conditions by managing suspension behaviour and body movement dynamically.

Thanks to its adaptive dampers, the damper system can continuously adjust based on speed, terrain, and vehicle dynamics, helping to maintain stability and comfort with minimal disruption inside the cabin. Safe to say that the DiSus-P is a key contributor to the B8’s premium character, be it during normal urban driving or in challenging conditions.
Premium Off-Road-Ready SUV, Inside and Out
The final pillar that makes the B8 stand out among the rest lies in its visuals, featuring a strong and rugged design identity on the exterior, while at the same time housing a refined interior space with modern luxury amenities.
Designed around the Starship Mecha theme, the B8 comes with a distinctive exterior design, with key highlights including the Starship Wing LED DRLs, the “Energy Thruster” LED taillights, and an instantly-recognisable silhouette with strong lines and bold elements.
Inside, the design focus shifts towards comfort, clarity, and luxury, with the front cabin being designed around the driver, featuring an ergonomic layout with tons of dedicated controls and dials, with the large 17.3-inch central infotainment screen acting as the main hub.
For the luxury part, all seats inside the B8 are wrapped in plush Nappa leather upholstery that is available in two colours—Jasper Brown and Onyx Black, while the multi-colour ambient lights set the mood for the passengers. Rounding off the cabin amenities list is the Devialet 18-speaker premium audio system the B8 comes standard with, offering a next-level aural experience to all occupants.
Public Debut on May 22
The upcoming Denza B8 SUV is poised to make its Malaysian public debut from May 22 to 24 at the Main Concourse, Ground Floor, Bangsar Shopping Centre, from 10 AM to 10 PM.
