Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) is celebrating its recent triumph at the Asia Cross Country Rally (AXCR) championship by unveiling two limited-edition models based on the current-gen Triton pick-up truck, known as the Mitsubishi Triton Championship Edition.
Developed to commemorate its rally success, these limited-edition Tritons are set to be launched later this week on March 11, with prices starting at RM155,980 for the AT Premium and RM169,980 for the Athlete.

In conjunction with its upcoming launch, customers who book either model will be entitled to an exclusive Ralliart key fob case cover and a motorsport-themed sticker pack.
Two Variants Offered, Limited Units Available
As mentioned above, the upcoming Triton Championship Edition is available in two variants, namely Athlete (RM169,980) and AT Premium (RM155,980).
Starting with the former, the Triton Athlete Championship Edition is limited to just 150 units nationwide, and buyers can only get them in a single Jet Black Mica exterior colourway.
Also separating this limited-edition Triton Athlete from other normal versions are the distinctive livery with the AXCR badge, plus the 18-inch gloss black alloy wheels shod in Yokohama Geolandar all-terrain (AT) tyres.
Moving on to the Triton AT Premium Championship Edition, this lower-specced variant is even more limited than the Athlete, as only 120 units are up for grabs—all of which are finished exclusively in the White Diamond colourway.
And just like the Athlete, the Triton AT Premium Championship Edition also comes wrapped in a rally-inspired body decal, plus some extra bits such as a styling bar, front lower bumper garnish, and 18-inch gloss black Enkei alloy wheels.
Last but not least, the AXCR treatment continues inside both the Triton Athlete and AT Premium Championship Editions, where the championship logo is embossed on both the cars’ headrest covers.
Same 2.4L Turbodiesel Engine with No Mechanical Upgrades
Predictably, the Triton Championship Edition carries no significant performance upgrades, as both models are still powered by the same 2.4-litre 4-cyl 4N16 turbodiesel engine as the non-limited-edition variants.
Similar to their vanilla counterparts, both the Athlete and AT Premium variants get a different state-of-tune for their engine, where the former is rated at 204 PS and 470 Nm plus the more advanced Super Select 4WD-II, whereas the latter gets a lower maximum output of 184 PS and 430 Nm with the Easy Select 4WD system instead.

Unlike the Team Mitsubishi Ralliart’s Triton AXCR rally car, both the Triton Championship Editions get no mechanical upgrades whatsoever. That said, drivers still get a slew of modern driving techs, such as the Active Yaw Control (AYC) for the Athlete variant, the Mitsubishi Motors Safety Sensing ADAS suite, and more.
