BMW Motorrad Malaysia has expanded its GS adventure touring lineup with the launch of the new 2026 BMW R 1300 GS variant, which now comes standard with the Automated Shift Assistant (ASA).
The new R 1300 GS with ASA is now available for purchase with a recommended retail price (RRP) of RM145,000, which includes the company’s new 3-year warranty and 3-year Roadside Assistance programme as standard.
Effortless Shifting with ASA
First introduced in 2024, the ASA is essentially BMW’s latest and most advanced automated clutch control technology to date, where it was designed to make gear shifting and riding more intuitive and comfortable while retaining the dynamic engagement that riders expect in any Motorrad machine.
With no manual clutch operation required, the ASA makes starting, stopping and manoeuvring the big R 1300 GS easier and more effortless, while allowing riders to focus more on the road and overall riding experience.

Riders are free to choose between manual gear or fully automated shifting, giving them the flexibility to tailor the experience according to their riding style and conditions.
In ‘M’ shift mode, riders can select gears using the foot shift lever, while the ASA system manages the clutch automatically. Meanwhile, engaging the ‘D’ shift mode allows the gear changes to be done automatically based on engine speed and load for smoother, more comfortable shifting.
More Goodies Available
The ASA tech is part of the Dynamic Package that comes standard to this new R 1300 GS, which also includes features such as Dynamic Suspension Adjustment (DSA), Gear Shift Assistant Pro, Riding Modes Pro, and Sports Brake.
Being Motorrad’s top-spec ADV model, the new R 1300 GS also comes equipped with several other packages, including the Touring Package that adds preparation for a GPS device, Central Locking System, Hand Protector Extension, and both left and right case holders.

Meanwhile, the Comfort Package adds the Passenger Kit, electrically adjustable windscreen and main stand. Adaptive Height Adjustment, the Deluxe headlight, and the M lightweight battery come as standard.
Powered by BMW’s Signature Boxer Engine
At the core of the new R 1300 GS is the latest version of BMW’s two-cylinder boxer engine. With a displacement of 1,300 cc, this new boxer mill can produce up to 145 PS (107 kW) at 7,750 rpm and 149 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm, making it the most powerful BMW boxer engine ever produced to date.
With all these features and equipment, BMW says the new R 1300 GS tips the scale at 237 kg and is available in two colourways—Black Storm Metallic and White Aluminium Metallic (new option).
