Proton’s sales took a rather drastic drop of 31% in Feb 2026, as the national automaker delivered 13,566 units last month. This was attributed to the many festive holidays that took place last month, including Thaipusam and Chinese New Year.

That said, Feb 2026’s sales were still 20.8% up compared to the same period last year (11,232 units), so it is not exactly all grey-tinted for the national automaker.

This sharp sales volume decline can be attributed to the Saga MC3, with said model having hit its record-breaking monthly sales of 10,285 units back in Jan 2026.

For Feb 2026, however, its sales volume was normalised back to 6,047 units, marking a sharp decline of over 40%. With that being said, the heavily-updated A-segment sedan is still Malaysia’s best-selling model this year, as its total year-to-date (YTD) sales are recorded at 16,332 units—69.8% more than the previous year.

As for the S70, this newly-updated sedan experienced a surge in sales, with 1,940 units delivered last month—marking a healthy 20.9% increase over the previous month’s volume of 1,604 units.

Said figure is enough to rank the S70 as P1’s second best-selling model, with its YTD volume now reaching 3,544 units, a 51.5% increase over the previous year.

Completing the podium is the X50, with a total of 1,842 units of this B-SUV sold last month, leading to its YTD sales reaching 4,271 units—a 31.1% increase over the same period in 2025.

“2026 has started brightly for Proton with strong customer interest for our new range of models that offer a compelling mix of design, the latest technologies, efficiency, and value. At the same time, our efforts to improve the customer experience in the showroom and service centres are starting to pay dividends, further reinforcing our brand values.

“In the short term, our most immediate challenge is to manage customer waiting times by increasing production and delivery numbers every month while maintaining product quality levels. With the investments made in our Tanjong Malim plant in recent years, we can meet the challenge, which should be proven by the sales numbers in the next few months,” said Dato’ Ir. Abdul Rashid Musa, Chief Executive Officer, Proton Edar.
