As the GWM Wey G9 Hi4 PHEV approaches its 2,000-unit milestone, GWM Malaysia has now opened the order books for the second variant of this popular luxury MPV, the GWM Wey G9 Hi4 HEV.
Set to make its market debut soon, the upcoming Wey G9 Hi4 HEV promises to offer the same first-class experience as its plug-in hybrid twin, featuring GWM’s proprietary Hi4 series-parallel hybrid powertrain setup.
No Plug-in Charging Required
The Hi4 HEV powertrain in question comprises a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine as its core, which is then mated to a 4-speed dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT).
With two electric motors present, this powertrain is capable of delivering up to 358 PS and 782 Nm of combined output, promising responsive acceleration and confident performance out of this full-size luxury MPV.
On the battery half, the G9 Hi4 HEV houses a small 1.67-kWh hybrid battery pack that does not require any external plug-in charging. It charges itself using the engine and the energy recovery from both the motors and the brakes, providing owners the freedom to simply refuel and go without having to look for a charger.
More Details Coming Soon
Besides the powertrain setup, details are scarce for the upcoming Wey Gi Hi4 HEV, with pricing and full specifications of this luxury MPV to be announced soon as part of its official market introduction.
For reference, the GWM Wey G9 Hi4 PHEV currently retails at RM269,800, where it is locally-assembled at EP Manufacturing Berhad’s (EPMB) plant in Pegoh, Melaka, alongside the GWM Haval H6 HEV SUV.
