It has been two years since the Omoda | Jaecoo (O&J) brand entered the Malaysian market, and the Wuhu-based automaker is celebrating its second birthday bash by surpassing 32,000 vehicle deliveries nationwide.
In conjunction with this celebration, O&J Malaysia has also opened the order books for its upcoming B-segment EV SUV, the Jaecoo J5 EV, with a tentative price of RM125,000.
J5 EV Open for Booking – Est. RM125,000
Previewed earlier this month at the Oh My Meow Expo, the J5 EV is essentially a fully electric version of the Jaecoo J5 B-segment SUV crossover.
It swaps the J5’s 1.5-litre TGDI engine for a single, front-mounted (FWD) electric motor delivering 211 PS and 288 Nm, while juice is provided by a 58.9-kWh LFP battery pack that can provide up to 402 km of WLTP range.
And just like its pure combustion twin, the J5 EV will be locally-assembled (CKD) at Chery Corporate Malaysia’s plant in Shah Alam, where it will be tentatively priced at RM125,000—making it roughly RM17,000 more expensive than the petrol-powered J5.
Over 32,000 Units Delivered, Top Five in 2026
Back to O&J Malaysia’s 2nd birthday bash, the brand has delivered more than 32,000 units since it launched its first model two years ago, the now-popular Jaecoo J7.
This achievement comes after the brand charted a total sales of over 8,100 units as of July this year, thus ranking it as the fifth best-selling automotive brand in Malaysia so far.
Besides the J7, among the biggest contributors to O&J Malaysia’s stellar sales volume is the J5, with more than 2,500 units delivered in the first four months since its debut, making it one of the best-selling B-segment SUVs on the market.
Its electrified models also made some significant contributions in 1H 2026, with new energy vehicle (NEV) deliveries rising to 2,300 units from 244 units in 1H 2025—marking a sharp 843% year-on-year increase.
