Chery Corporate Malaysia marked yet another significant milestone, as the company recently announced the topping-out of Phase 1 of its new Chery Smart Auto Industrial Park in Lembah Beringin, Selangor.

Officiated by the Menteri Besar of Selangor, Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, this dedicated auto industry hub is set to be operational later in the first quarter of 2027, where the first phase itself is expected to generate up to 2,000 new jobs.

RM2.2 Billion Invested Over Five Years

Spanning 200 acres, the new Chery Smart Auto Industrial Park represents a huge investment of RM2.2 billion over a period of five years from the Wuhu-based automaker, and this new automotive hub is expected to play a pivotal role in supporting Chery’s growing presence not only in Malaysia but in the whole ASEAN region too.

Once completed and operational, the facility will enhance Chery’s capabilities in assembly, innovation, and customer delivery while supporting its multi-brand strategy and contributing to the broader automotive ecosystem.

As of now, the Chery Group’s multi-brand portfolio in Malaysia includes the main Chery brand, as well as several other sub-brands such as Omoda | Jaecoo, iCaur, and the upcoming Lepas brand.

Up to 8,000 New Jobs to be Created

According to NST, the first phase alone is expected to create around 2,000 jobs and increase to 5,000 jobs when the next phases are completed in 2028 and 2029. Combined with future vendors and further economic activities around the industrial park, the Chery Smart Auto Park is expected to generate up to 8,000 new jobs in total.

More importantly, this facility is expected to initially have an annual production capacity of 100,000 vehicles, with room to further upscale and expand productions to 300,000 vehicles annually.

“This new chapter for Lembah Beringin, with Chery Malaysia as one of its anchors, can spur the town forward by rapidly developing new supply chains, reducing business operation and travel times, and ultimately creating better-quality jobs for Selangorians,” Dato’ Seri Amirudin commented.

“Today’s topping-out ceremony marks an important milestone for Chery in Malaysia. It reflects not only the progress of this project but also our strong confidence in the Malaysian market and its potential as a regional hub,” said Michael Chew, Senior Director, Product Strategy and Fleet Sales of Chery Corporate Malaysia.
