MG Motor Malaysia, represented by SAIC Motor Malaysia, is turning two this year, and the automaker celebrates its second birthday bash with the announcement of its future plans, while highlighting several key milestones and achievements.
Apart from positive Q1 2026 sales figures, network expansion, and the launch of its first locally-assembled (CKD) EV model, the MG S5 EV, the Sino-British marque also reaffirms its plan to make Malaysia one of its key hubs, including plans to export vehicles to both right- (RHD) and left-hand-drive (LHD) markets in the near future.
CKD MG Models to be Exported to RHD & South American Markets
During the media Q&A session, SAIC Motor Malaysia Managing Director Emory Qi confirmed plans to export locally-assembled MG models to selected overseas markets, including the South American region, as part of the company’s plan to make Malaysia one of its regional manufacturing hubs.
Besides South America, neighbouring markets would also be the company’s target for potential export, but no specific models nor exact timeline was given by the MD, at least for now.
Having said that, the company currently assembles only one model here in Malaysia, which is the fully electric MG S5 EV, which now retails at RM116,900. Said B-segment EV SUV was assembled by contract manufacturer EP Manufacturing Berhad (EPMB) at its plant in Pegoh, Melaka—the same facility that produces both the GWM Haval H6 HEV and GWM Wey G9 PHEV.
Positive Q1 2026 Output, New Models to be Shown at KLIMS 2026
Apart from the export plans, MG Motor Malaysia also announced its positive Q1 2026 sales performance, as the automaker managed to deliver 807 units in said quarter, marking a 57.3% increase over Q4 2025 and 39% up from Q1 2025.
To go with this positive sales output, the automaker is also poised to further strengthen its local network by establishing more dedicated 3S centres in key locations such as Kuantan, Pahang, and Rawang, Selangor, while operating up to 11 body and paint facilities nationwide.

Looking ahead, MG Motor Malaysia will be participating in the upcoming Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show 2026 (KLIMS 2026) in June next month, where the automaker will unveil several upcoming models and the latest technology SAIC Motor has to offer.
On top of that, the automaker will also be hosting Jozef Kaban, vice president of global design at SAIC Motor, at KLIMS 2026.
