2026 Jaecoo J5 Arrives in Malaysia as Premium B-Segment SUV with 1.5T Engine, From RM108,000

Omoda | Jaecoo Malaysia today officially welcomed its latest model into the local market, the long-awaited Jaecoo J5.

This compact B-segment SUV crossover is essentially the more premium twin to the Chery Tiggo Cross, set to compete against the likes of other popular B-SUVs such as the Proton X50, Honda HR-V, and many more.

Single 2WD Variant, Special Launch Rebates Worth Up to RM8,000

Malaysians will only get one spec for the new J5, namely the 2WD variant priced at RM108,000 on-the-road sans insurance. Said figure is inclusive of a standard 7-year or 150,000 km vehicle warranty, just like any other O&J model sold here.

In conjunction with its launch, the automaker is also offering a Special Launch Package worth up to RM8,000 for early bird customers from today until March 15, 2026.

Said package is inclusive of a Duit Raya Rebate worth RM3,000 and a One-Year Complimentary Insurance or Additional Duit Raya of RM3,000—the latter two bringing the car price down to just RM102,000.

On top of that, said package also comes with the J5 Car Accessories Trio Package worth RM2,000, which includes:

Same 1.5T Engine as Tiggo Cross Turbo, but Pairs with a CVT Gearbox

As mentioned earlier, the new J5 is essentially the Jaecoo-branded version of the Chery Tiggo Cross SUV, which explains why this premium B-SUV shares the same 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine as its Chery twin.

The four-pot lump is good for up to 147 PS and 210 Nm, although in the J5’s case it is now mated to a CVT automatic gearbox instead of a six-speed DCT unit. This has resulted in a quicker century sprint time of 10.2 seconds for the J5 over its Chery twin, while its V-max is capped at 175 km/h.

Mind you, the J5 is also available in hybrid (BEV) and pure electric (BEV) versions, although both of them seem to skip our market, at least for now. That said, O&J rates the turbocharged J5 with a respectable fuel consumption rate of 7.5 litres per 100 km.

J7-esque Styling in a More Compact B-SUV Size

Fans of the Jaecoo brand will immediately notice the similarities between the J5 and its bigger sibling, the Jaecoo J7, as it gets the same boxy SUV bodystyle with familiar design cues.

Key highlights include slim LED projector headlights with dual-bar DRLs, a large “waterfall” front grille, a full-width front air intake, slim LED taillights, 18-inch alloy wheels shod in Chaoyang Aggressor tyres, and more.

Dimension-wise, the J5 spans 4,380 mm long, 1,860 mm wide, and 1,650 mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,620 mm, thus putting it on par with some of its aforementioned rivals.

Last but not least, buyers can opt for up to four exterior colourway options, namely:

Pet-Friendly & Tech-Laden Interior, Full ADAS Suite

O&J dubbed the J5 as a “pet-friendly” SUV, thanks to its TÜV-certified faux leather upholstery that is also anti-bacterial, scratch-resistant, and has low volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Buyers can also purchase pet-related accessories such as mats, nets, and pet carriers.

As for the rest of the cabin, it retains the same minimalist design and layout seen on other O&J models. Some key tech highlights include:
