Just a few months after making its long-awaited local debut, the all-new 2026 Proton Saga MC3 has now made its way overseas, with Brunei becoming the first export market for this latest A-segment sedan.
This debut marks the Saga MC3 as the second Proton model to debut in said kingdom this year, following the arrival of the Proton X50 facelift earlier on Jan 15.

“The launch of the all-new Proton Saga in Brunei is a definitive statement of Proton’s intent to grow its export volume by increasing its presence in the entry-level segment in regional markets,” said Edmund Lim Meng Thong, CEO of Proton International Corporation (PICSB).
“By leveraging our own proprietary technology, such as the AMA platform, we aim to secure a larger share of the ASEAN market while solidifying our export-led growth strategy to align with our long-term goals.”
Two Variants Available, Unchanged Powertrain Specs
Sold through local distributor PAD Motors, the new Saga MC3 is offered in only two variants, namely the Executive, priced at BND 16,800 (RM51,929), and the Premium, at BND 18,800 (RM58,111).
That said, these prices are inclusive of a 5-year or 150,000 km vehicle warranty plus three times free labour service, and exclusive of a special early bird promo of BND 500 (RM1,546) discounts for the first 100 customers.
No changes took place for the powertrain setup of the Brunei-spec Saga MC3, as it still draws power from the same Geely-derived 1.5-litre 4-cylinder BHE15 i-GT naturally-aspirated petrol engine rated at 120 PS and 150 Nm as the Malaysian model.
Said power is then sent to the front wheels (FWD) via either an Aisin-sourced 4AT gearbox (Executive) or a Punch VT3+ CVT gearbox (Premium).
Brunei First, More Overseas Markets Soon?
P1’s decision to make Brunei the first overseas market for the Saga MC3 comes as no surprise, as the country remains one of the company’s most established export markets. Said market will also continue to become Proton’s primary launching pad for its new models, as the brand is set to accelerate its ASEAN market expansion this year.
Last year, Proton recorded a positive export market performance with 6,000 units delivered across 32 overseas markets, as it looks to have exports contributing to 30% of its total sales by the end of this decade.
