Following its debut in Thailand, the facelifted 2026 Honda City is finally heading to Malaysia, as Honda Malaysia Sdn Bhd recently announced the booking commencement for its updated B-segment family car.

For our market, the new City will be arriving in the sedan version first, and customers who book the car from Aug 27 to Sept 30 will be entitled to a special early bird reward worth up to RM3,000.

In conjunction with this booking commencement and the upcoming Merdeka Day celebrations, Honda Malaysia will also be opening a new City Pop-up Store, with details regarding the locations and operation hours to be updated on its official website soon.

Sedan First with New Design Bits

As seen in Thailand and China, the second facelift version of the current fourth-gen City features some minor design and equipment changes, with the most obvious one being its entire front end.

The refreshed front fascia now features sharper LED headlights with more prominent daytime running lights, complemented by a full-width light bar and a slimmer front grille.

Also new here are the entire front bumper, which features a sleeker single-colour design instead of the two-tone styling on the outgoing model, while the side air curtains are now more prominent.

The rest of the exterior also gains some minor changes, including the new 16-inch alloy wheels with a turbine-style spoke design plus a two-tone Berlina Black and Dark Clear finish, the redesigned rear bumper with a diffuser-like lower bumper insert, and many more.

Revised Cabin, Updated Honda Sensing

The facelift treatment continues inside, where the updated City gets a revamped cabin featuring a new front dash design with ambient lighting strips and a larger 10-inch central touchscreen that supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Said display also supports the new 360-degree camera view system, and while we’re on the topic of safety, all variants of the new City will also come standard with the Honda Sensing safety suite as standard, which includes ADAS functions such as:

  • Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
  • Road Departure Mitigation (RDM)
  • Lane Keep Assist System (LKAS)
  • Forward Collision Warning (FCW)
  • Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS)
  • Auto High Beam (AHB)
  • Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
  • Low Speed Follow (LSF)
  • Lead Car Departure Notification (LCDN)

e:HEV & ICE Variants Available

Predictably, the powertrain lineup for the updated City remains unchanged as before, where Malaysians will be getting both the e:HEV hybrid and i-VTEC full combustion powertrain options.

The former comprises a 1.5-litre 4-cyl naturally-aspirated Atkinson-cycle petrol engine rated at 98 PS and 127 Nm, which is paired to an e-CVT gearbox with a 109 PS and 253 Nm-rated electric motor integrated into it.

Meanwhile, the full combustion version uses a 1.5-litre 4-cyl naturally-aspirated i-VTEC engine that makes 121 PS and 145 Nm, which is then sent to the front wheels (FWD) via a CVT automatic gearbox.
