A 31-year-old construction worker has died following an incident at a drainage installation project site along Jalan Pantai Geting, Pengkalan Kubor, Tumpat, Kelantan last Tuesday. The incident occurred while work was being carried out along the roadside.

According to initial information from authorities, the incident was reported to police at approximately 1:40pm after the victim was found unconscious with serious injuries before security forces arrived at the scene and confirmed his death.

It is understood that the accident occurred while heavy machinery was being operated for the purpose of drain installation.

An excavator operating in the dig zone is believed to have experienced an uncontrolled movement before its front component made contact with the victim.

The victim, who was working in close proximity to the active excavation area, was unable to get clear in time before being struck by the machine’s bucket.

Preliminary investigations indicate the incident was most likely caused by a workplace accident, and no criminal element has been identified at this stage.

Further Investigation and Forensic Process Underway

The victim’s body has been transported to Tumpat Hospital for further action, including a post-mortem examination to determine the precise cause of death.

Initial medical findings indicate the victim sustained critical internal injuries and trauma to the chest area.

The case is currently being investigated to assess safety compliance at the construction site, including standard operating procedures (SOP) and heavy machinery control protocols.

Members of the public with any information related to the incident are urged to contact police or come forward at the nearest station to assist with the investigation.
