
A routine service visit turned into a life-changing moment for Joan Gan Cherl Wean when she was announced as the grand prize winner of a Chery Tiggo Cross through the Chery Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) Test Drive Lucky Draw.
Gan’s name was drawn from a pool of more than 1,300 participants during a live draw session broadcast across Chery Malaysia’s official social media platforms.
The prize was presented by Chery Malaysia Vice President Lee Wen Hsiang at a dedicated vehicle handover ceremony.
A Service Appointment That Turned Into an Unexpected Windfall
Gan, who is from Klang, said she was in the middle of a meeting when she received a call from a representative at the Chery Klang showroom — the same location where she had previously test driven the Chery Tiggo 7 PHEV.
Her initial reaction was scepticism — she thought it was a joke.
“To convince me, they sent me a recording of the live draw session that I had missed,” she said.
The mother of two described the win as a deeply meaningful start to the New Year — all the more so because her husband had been actively considering purchasing a new SUV.
A Campaign Built to Get People Behind the Wheel of a PHEV
The competition ran from 9 December 2025 to 6 January 2026, with the objective of encouraging the public to test drive Chery’s PHEV models and share photos with the vehicles.
Total prizes worth up to RM200,000 were on offer, with the Tiggo Cross HEV as the headline grand prize.
According to Lee Wen Hsiang, the campaign was designed to give people a genuine, hands-on experience with Chery’s hybrid technology.
“We want customers to experience driving a Chery PHEV for themselves and understand the Chery Super Hybrid technology before making a decision,” he said.
A Loyal Customer Who Just Added a New Family Member
Gan had already owned a Chery Tiggo 7 Pro for over a year and entered the competition after being encouraged to do so by showroom staff when she brought her car in for servicing.
At the handover ceremony, she received the Tiggo Cross HEV accompanied by her mother — and the family is now thrilled to welcome a new Chery to the household.
Beyond the grand prize, the campaign also offered a range of additional prizes including home appliances and electronic gadgets.
The initiative forms part of Chery’s year-end promotional campaign, designed to celebrate and give back to its growing customer community in Malaysia.
