The Volvo EX30 2026 Gets a Fresh Breath of Life With New Power Options and Up to 476km Range

Volvo EX30 2026

The compact electric SUV Volvo EX30 2026 steps into the new year with some meaningful updates worth talking about.

This isn’t just a case of adding a new variant — this year’s refresh involves a restructured powertrain lineup, a revamped in-cabin digital experience, and practical new features that make increasing sense for today’s modern EV owner.

Power Options That Actually Make Sense

For 2026, Volvo introduces a new, more modest entry point — a rear-wheel drive electric motor producing 110kW (150ps).

The move opens the door to a more efficient option without losing the driving character that makes an EV enjoyable in the first place.

Two battery capacities are on offer:

  • 51kWh with a range of up to 339km (WLTP)
  • 69kWh with a range of up to 476km (WLTP)

That combination gives buyers genuine flexibility — whether you want a straightforward city runabout or a longer-legged variant capable of inter-state trips without breaking a sweat.

Interestingly, this 150ps configuration was already introduced earlier in Singapore, specifically to meet the requirements for a Category A Certificate of Entitlement (COE).

Performance figures for this variant are as follows:

  • Torque: 343Nm
  • 0 to 100 km/h: 8.6 seconds
  • Top speed: 180 km/h

The More Powerful Variants Are Still Here

For those who want something with a bit more bite, the existing performance lineup carries on unchanged:

  • Single motor 51kWh with a Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery
  • Single rear-wheel drive motor producing 272ps and 343Nm of torque
  • Single motor extended range 69kWh with a Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) battery
  • Same 272ps output, but with a larger battery for extra range

Twin Motor Performance

The dual-motor electric AWD variant sits at the top of the pile, pumping out 428ps and a hefty 543Nm of torque — making it the quickest member of the Volvo EX30 2026 family.

For the Malaysian market, these last two variants are already available for order as locally assembled (CKD) units.

A Smarter, More Intuitive Interface

Another notable change is the comprehensive overhaul of the user experience (UX) system on the infotainment unit.

Volvo has reorganised the display to be more accessible and customisable to each driver’s preferences.

Key improvements include:

  • A customisable content shortcut bar
  • Context-sensitive controls that adapt based on the situation
  • A cleaner, more user-friendly layout overall

Better yet, this update isn’t exclusive to new models — existing owners will receive it too via an Over-The-Air (OTA) software update.

Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) Support

Volvo EX30 2026

The Volvo EX30 2026 now supports Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, allowing energy stored in the car’s battery to power external devices — whether for outdoor activities, emergency situations, or everyday use.

A dedicated adapter will be offered separately depending on the market, and the feature will also be activated on existing units through an OTA update.

New Interior Concepts and Special Editions

Volvo has introduced two fresh interior concepts:

  • Harvest: Features light woven fabric made from recycled materials, paired with Nordico trim and dark flax accents for a modern yet natural feel
  • Black: A all-dark theme with Nordico upholstery and contrasting stitching for a sportier, more exclusive look

On top of that, a Black Edition variant is introduced in three colour choices: Onyx Black, Vapour Grey, and Crystal White.

What Does This Mean for Malaysia?

The addition of the 150ps variant could potentially make the Volvo EX30 more accessible should Volvo Cars Malaysia (VCM) decide to bring it in. With a range of nearly 500km on the 69kWh battery, the EX30 is now a much stronger contender in the compact electric SUV segment.

All things considered, the Volvo EX30 2026 updates reflect a clear strategy from Volvo — to make the EX30 not just a premium compact EV, but a smarter, more practical, and more relevant choice for everyday Malaysian drivers.
