Following its booking commencement last week, GWM Malaysia has unveiled the official launch price for its new hybrid luxury MPV, the 2026 GWM Wey G9 Hi4 HEV, priced at RM249,800 on-the-road sans insurance.
This makes the G9 HEV RM20,000 less than its PHEV twin that was launched earlier in Jan this year, which is priced at RM269,800 on-the-road.
As standard, said price is inclusive of a 6-year unlimited mileage vehicle warranty, a separate 8-year or 180,000 km warranty on the high-voltage battery, electric drive motor, and electric motor control unit, a 5-year free service package including parts and labour, plus a free 5-year vehicle telematics service, and a complimentary GWM Touch ‘n Go RFID tag.
Powered by GWM’s Hi4 HEV Powertrain
As detailed prior, the new Wey G9 HEV is powered by GWM’s Hi4 HEV powertrain setup comprising a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine as its core, which is then mated to a 4-speed dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT).
With two electric motors present, this HEV powertrain is capable of delivering up to 358 PS and 782 Nm of combined output, enabling this large MPV to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.5 seconds.

On the battery half, the G9 HEV is equipped with a small 1.67 kWh hybrid powertrain battery that GWM claims can provide up to 845 km of travel range, with a fuel consumption of 6.5 litres per 100 km—both based on the more lenient NEDC standards.
Unchanged Exterior
On the design half, the new G9 HEV looks identical to its plug-in hybrid twin, featuring a boxy, large MPV bodystyle with some elegant design elements scattered around it.
Some key highlights include a large waterfall front grille with sharp LED headlights flanking on both sides, vertical LED taillights with a connecting light bar at the centre, a slew of chrome accents and trims, 18-inch two-tone alloy wheels shod in 245/50R18 tyres, and three exterior colour options—Wisdom Grey, Aurora White, and Nebula Black, which are all matched with the same black interior with grey roof lining.
Predictably, the G9 HEV also comes in the same exact dimensions as the PHEV version, spanning 5,050 mm long, 1,985 mm wide, and 1,900 mm tall with a 3,085 mm wheelbase. But given its different powertrain setup, the HEV version is lighter at 2,550 kg compared to the PHEV’s 2,803 kg claimed kerb weight.
First-Class Interior with 2-2-3 Layout
Also unchanged is the cabin setup for the G9 HEV, where it retains the PHEV’s 2-2-3 seating configuration with tons of comfort amenities and tech equipment.
Up front, drivers will get a large 14.6-inch central infotainment screen that supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a smaller 12.3-inch digital instrument panel with a head-up display (HUD), and a digital rearview mirror, while both the front seats are powered and ventilated, with the driver side getting 10-point massage functions.
The centerpiece of the G9 HEV’s cabin are the two zero-gravity captain seats in the second row, complete with electric leg rests, as well as both ventilation and massage functions. These seats are then complemented by a 21-speaker premium audio system, while any exterior noise is kept away by the HaloSonic active noise cancellation system that works alongside both the acoustic windscreen and windows.
Even with the third-row seats up, the G9 HEV still gets a sizable 233-litre boot space that is expandable to 1,725 litres.
