National automaker Proton continues its strong sales momentum in 2026, as it shifted 18,156 units in April 2026 to bring its year-to-date (YTD) sales figure to 67,298 units—an increase of 40.9% in year-on-year (YoY) sales volume.
More importantly, this positive volume also puts the automaker on track to achieve its annual vehicle sales target of 200,000 units this year, with an estimation of its market share to hit 25% last month, while its YTD percentage for the market share is forecasted to be around 26.4%.
Proton Saga Remains the Main Driving Factor
To no one’s surprise, the Proton Saga remains the company’s ace model, with 8,207 units delivered in April 2026 alone, marking a significant 50.9% increase in sales volume over the previous month.
This also brings the Saga’s YTD sales total to 29,779 units for the first four months of 2026, which is an increase of 42.8% over the same period in 2025.

Another star performer for P1 is the Proton S70, with the recent minor update (MC1) version rejuvenating its sales performance as 2,377 units sold last month. This makes April 2026 the best sales month for this C-segment sedan, which brings its YTD volume to 8,175 units—an increase of 32.3% over the same period in the previous year.
Sedans aside, Proton’s X-Series SUV lineup also had a productive sales month, with 2,603 units of the Proton X50 sold last month to bring its YTD to 10,174 units—retaining its status as the best-selling B-SUV in Malaysia. Meanwhile, a total of 462 units of the Proton X90 were delivered last month, marking its best monthly sales performance since December 2023.
e.MAS 7 PHEV Retains as Malaysia’s No. 1 PHEV Model
