We’re taking a slight detour from our Auto China 2026 coverage to focus on the ongoing media day of the Penang Autoshow 2026, and the first order of business from the Pearl of the Orient island comes from national NEV marque PRO-NET, who just revealed the new Jade Green colourway for the Proton e.MAS 5 EV hatch.

This new exterior colour option is available for both the Prime and Premium variants of the e.MAS 5 at no extra cost, meaning that this EV hatch still retails at RM56,800 for the Prime and RM69,800 for the Premium—both prices are inclusive of the RM3,000 launch rebate, mind you.

Six Exterior Colourways Now Available

With the addition of the new Jade Green option, Malaysians can now get the Proton e.MAS 5 in six distinct colour options, with the remaining five being Moonstone White, Graphite Silver, Slate Grey, Marble Cream, and Quartz Rose.

Not to forget, the latter two are exclusive to the top-spec Premium variant, with both of them featuring a black roof and an Alabaster White interior option. Having said that, the new Jade Green colourway can only be matched with the Slate Grey interior.

Predictably, the rest of the car remains unchanged from its original launch version, featuring two RWD powertrain options rated at up to 116 PS and 150 Nm on the top-spec Premium version. Said variant also gets the bigger 40.16 kWh battery pack that Proton claims is good for up to 325 km of WLTP range to this compact EV hatch.

Still Malaysia’s No. 1 EV Model

Since its launch late last year, the Proton e.MAS 5 has quickly risen to become the nation’s number one EV model, with over 8,000 units delivered as of today.

According to PRO-NET, this strong momentum stems from the positive reception towards the e.MAS 5 and the whole Proton e.MAS brand as a whole in the Northern Peninsula Malaysia region, as the brand currently holds 64.2% of the region’s market share as of March 2026.

For those who are keen to size up the new Proton e.MAS 5 in Jade Green or any other Proton e.MAS models can visit their booth at the ongoing Penang Autoshow 2026, which opens to the public from tomorrow (May 1) until May 3 at the Penang Waterfront Convention Centre, with doors opening from 10.00 AM to 10.00 PM.
