There’s a new Merc roadster in town, and this one is definitely more special than the rest. Say hello to the all-new Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series—the first SL-class model to don the iconic Maybach name.
Revealed at the ongoing Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Kuala Lumpur 2026 (MBFWKL) yesterday, this Maybach-badged roadster comes in a single SL 680 Monogram guise, and it does come with a handsome estimated price of RM2.25 million before options and customisation.
Sportiest Maybach Ever
Built upon the current seventh-gen (R232) Mercedes-Benz SL, the Maybach SL 680 is not only the most luxurious SL ever made (so far), it is also the sportiest model in Maybach’s entire history.
For starters, the SL 680 shares the same 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 petrol mill as the top-spec Mercedes-AMG SL 63, and this particular unit can deliver up to 585 PS and 800 Nm of twist.
Combined with its 9-speed 9G-Tronic gearbox and the 4Matic+ all-wheel drive (AWD) system, the SL 680 completes the 0-100 km/h sprint in just 4.1 seconds before hitting the limiter at 260 km/h.
In typical Maybach fashion, the SL 680 makes up for its ‘lacking’ performance with comfortable and smooth cruising. To achieve this, Maybach engineers have reworked its suspension by reducing the spring rates to achieve a plusher and more comfortable ride, and the springs themselves are now paired with active dampers too.
For better cabin comfort, some noise reduction works have also been done, where the V8’s engine response has been softened and equipped with extra sound insulation elements and softer engine mounts.
All in all, this comfort-cruise makeover has added an extra 60 kg to the SL 680, and that is before all the cosmetic additions and creature comforts featured on this luxurious roadster.
Maybach-Themed Exterior
Globally, the new Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series is available in two design concepts, with this particular unit shown at MBFWKL 2026 being the Red Ambience version.
It features Maybach’s signature two-tone exterior colourway, where the dark Obsidian Black contrasts with the striking Manufaktur Garnet Red Metallic, while the White Ambience version swaps the red for a more subtle Manufaktur Ophalite White Magno instead.
And again, in typical Maybach fashion, the SL 680 is studded with tons of Maybach logos and brandings, with the most obvious one being the optional Maybach monogram pattern on the front hood and the soft-top convertible roof.
Other Maybach-branded parts featured here include the Maybach engraving on the radiator’s front grille, the Maybach monogram air inserts on the lower part of the front bumper, the 21-inch Maybach forged alloy wheels with a retro-inspired five-hole Monoblock design, a slew of chrome ornaments with Maybach engraving, and many more.
Poshest SL Yet
The Maybach-ification continues inside the cabin of the SL 680, where not only the upgrade makes this the poshest SL ever made but also transforms it into a distinctively Maybach interior.
As standard, buyers can get the SL 680 dressed in either Manufaktur Crystal White or Silk Brown Nappa leather upholstery, and this material engulfs almost the entire cabin, including in less-obvious areas like behind the seat backs.
As for the Maybach parts, the list includes the new three-spoke Maybach-specific steering wheel, Maybach-embossed stainless steel pedals, illuminated Maybach door sill plates, plush Maybach-badged floor mats, Maybach embroidery on the seats, and many more.
Familiar bits present here include a 12.3-inch digital metre cluster with a head-up display (HUD), a smaller 11.9-inch portrait-oriented infotainment touchscreen with Maybach-specific animations, an Airscarf neck heating system, a Burmester high-end 3D surround sound system, and many more.
