Following their respective inaugural public debuts and their subsequent appearance at the Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week 2026 (KLFW), Omoda | Jaecoo Malaysia has finally opened the order books for its upcoming C-segment SUV duo, the Omoda C7 and C7 PHEV.
Set to make their market debut soon, the fully combustion C7 is available with an estimated price tag of RM160,000, whereas the semi-electrified C7 PHEV comes with a higher estimated price of RM180,000.
And just like any other O&J Malaysia product, both the upcoming C7 and C7 PHEV will be locally assembled (CKD) at Chery Corporate Malaysia’s plant in Shah Alam.
Petrol and PHEV Available
Starting with the pure combustion version, the C7 is powered by a 1.6-litre 4-cyl turbocharged petrol engine that makes 197 PS and 290 Nm, which is then paired to a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox.
And just like its fellow O&J sibling, the Jaecoo J7, we can also expect O&J Malaysia to offer both the front- (FWD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD) variants of the C7.
As for the C7 PHEV, it uses the 1.5-litre version of O&J’s Super Hybrid System (SHS) plug-in hybrid powertrain setup, featuring a 1.5-litre 4-cyl turbocharged dedicated hybrid engine as its core.
Said engine is then mated to an electric motor producing 204 PS and 310 Nm, plus a single-speed dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT). In total, the whole SHS setup is capable of delivering up to 360 PS and 530 Nm to enable the C7 PHEV to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.5 seconds.
For the battery half, the C7 PHEV harbours the same 18.3-kWh BYD ‘Blade’ LFP battery pack as the J7 PHEV to provide 95 km of pure electric range and up to 1,250 km of comprehensive travel range.
C+ Segment SUV with Highly-Specced Interior
Debuted globally in late 2024, the Omoda C7 stands as the brand’s first model designed specifically for international markets, where it is positioned between the Omoda C5 (Chery O5 in Malaysia) and Omoda C9 as the brand’s new C-segment SUV crossover.
Developed around Omoda’s signature “Art in Motion” design philosophy, the C7 stands 4,621 mm tall, 1,872 mm wide, and 1,588 mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,700 mm, making it 121 mm longer, 7 mm wider, and 92 mm shorter than the Jaecoo J7.
Regardless of powertrain specs, both the C7 and C7 PHEV share the same cabin setup, with some of the key interior highlights include:
- 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen that can be slid over to the front passenger
- 8.88-inch digital metre cluster
- Powered, heated, and ventilated front seats with nubuck leather upholstery
- 12+2-speaker Sony audio system with a driver-side headrest speaker
- Multi-colour ambient lights
- Double-glazed front windows
- 614-litre boot space (expandable to 1,371 litres)
- Full ADAS suite
